Last night, when I opened my mailbox before turning in to sleep, I found myself with a suspicious letter. There was no sender on it, but it did have a candy cane within the envelope, and as I took it out, I thought it was just another kind soul sending out gifts for Winter Veil. After all, I had already received a large number of Gingerbread treats, some chocolate, and of course a lump of coal. Well deserved, I might add at this point. I did not think anything more of it, but as luck would have it, I was with a Gilnean friend of mine, who at the moment stood next to me in his wolven form. He smelled that something was off, and asked for the candy cane, which I of course gave to him, thinking he just wanted to eat it, and willing to share it with a friend. However, to my surprise, he soon threw it on the groun.....[READ MORE]
It's been a few weeks since our beloved city, Stormwind, was soiled by the undead scourge. It's been a few weeks since a lot of us had to seek refugee in other cities, villages and towns. It has also been a few weeks with has seen furnerals and burials. A few weeks which has seen mourning and rememberance.
I was originally going to write an article about all the hardship, about the lost and the wounded. About the grimness of the whole affair and about desperation, courage, and hope.
I won't do that. I'll do worse.
The future is still grim. The King and other high ranking alliances commanders are still missing and apparently the sky has split in Northrend, a purple hue filling the sky with despair and sorrow, but this article is not about that.
We all know that often the alliance does not have a.....[READ MORE]
In the last article, I’ve interviewed a great many people from all over Azeroth about their Winter Veil customs, trying to find out how they celebrate this holiday. Now that I’ve learned that most everyone on this planet likes to make their loved ones happy with some heartfelt presents during this time of year, it’s time to figure out what exactly it is that will await friends and family under the Winter Veil tree.
What’s that you say, dear readers? You have no idea what to get your mother, your spouse, your friends, your uncle or your cousin-twice-removed? Worry not, for in this article, I will be giving you all some ideas for Winter Veil presents to those you wish to make smile this season. With Winter Veil approaching rapidly, I determined that it was time to really take a better look at these festivities, and to help you dear readers understand what it’s really about. For that purpose, I interviewed a large number of people on different continents, asking them for their customs and traditions for this classic celebration. I’ll showcase some of these answers here today, but first, what even is Winter Veil?
Well, the tradition originated from the dwarves of Dun Morogh as a celebration of renewal. During the Feast of Great-Winter, the titanic figure called Greatfather Winter would walk across the lands, and his cloak would bring a blanket of snow with it. From there, it evolved to its modern form because of the Greatfather’s ‘wintry veil’.
Though, as things go and change with time, n.....[READ MORE]
Lately, especially with the chaos engulfing Stormwind and its surroundings, a number of businessmen and -women have decided to set up shop in the city of Boralus, on the islands of Kul Tiras. Naturally, I had to see those for myself, to inform you dear readers about some of the places you can visit in this city that recently experienced a large business boom after the end of the war. I figured that the best way to get a proper picture of these newly opened stores in Boralus was to go there in person, inspect their wares and buy something, to get a good overview of the customer’s experience. In this article, I’ll feature three stores that particularly stood out.
The Trader’s Initiative
This particular store, located at what used to be Tucker’s Toys in Upton Borough, is an off-shoot of their b.....[READ MORE]
While in the last three articles, I had focused on the fighting back at home, in the Kingdom of Stormwind, this one will be different. I had the chance to interview a number of members of the Dustcloud Corporation. They had just come back from a week-long campaign to bring the fight to the Cult of the Damned, and hit them where it really hurts. It didn’t go without issues, though. One of my interviewees, simply called Steps, was captured, and Zithis Shadowweb, Dorind Brightbeard and Rebecca Gale-Marley were part of the rescue endeavour. First, I asked Steps to recount in detail how she was captured.
Steps: Well, I was scouting a week ahead of this mission to get the location of this cult. So I was up there shortly before Icecrown as I made rest in Crystalsong Forest, I thought I w.....[READ MORE]
